Abstract

Calcium hydroxide is the most commonly used intracanal medication. However, its actionthe microbial biofilm is limited. N-acetyl cysteine (NAC), which has been shown to be effective on bacterial biofilms in addition to having action in the resolution of the inflammatory process. At the However, alone, it has a limited effect on the endodontic microbiota. Thus, this study randomized trial will evaluate in teeth with primary endodontic infection and apical periodontitis the effect of intracanal medication (MIC) with calcium hydroxide + N-acetyl-cysteine (NAC +Ca(OH)‚), compared to calcium hydroxide + serum (Ca(OH)‚ + SS) in disinfection and reductionof endotoxins and root canal ATL. 30 single-rooted teeth will be selected withprimary endodontic infection (PIE) and apical periodontitis (AP) that will have their canalsprepared using a reciprocating single file instrument and irrigation withsodium 2.5%, followed by MIC. Samples of root canal contents will be taken aftercoronary opening (S1), after canal preparation (S2) and after 15 days of MIC use in order toto assess the load (by culture - CFU/mL), LPS levels (Amebocyte Lysate test fromLimulus - LAL) and LTA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay - ELISA). The data will beevaluated through descriptive and inferential statistical tests, according to data obtained, according to its normality, with parametric or non-parametric tests.
