To verify the possibility of thermonuclear fusion energy production in magnetically confined plasmas, experiments have been performed in tokamaks. However, the plasma confinement is limited by the particle escape to the vessel. To improve the confinement, the escape has been controlled by modifying the electric and magnetic equilibrium field profiles. In this project, we theoretically investigate the onset of the electric turbulence driven chaotic particle transport at the plasma edge. The analysis considers a Hamiltonian model in toroidal geometry. The results should indicate the equilibrium profiles to reduce the chaotic particle transport in tokamaks. (AU)
