Since the construction of Algebraic Geometry Codes given by V. D. Goppa in 1977, several objects of Algebraic Geometry have been intensively studied to obtain new constructions of Error Correcting Codes, as well as for to obtain Algebraic Geometry Codes with good properties.In this direction, the research project entitled "Algebraic curves and their applications to Coding Theory" has as its main objective to study the different tools provided in the theory of algebraic curves for the construction of Error Correcting Codes with good parameters. More specifically, the proposed project prioritizes research on the following topics:1. Algebraic curves with many rational points.2. Weierstrass semigroups.3. New constructions of codes via algebraic curves.
