Abstract

Scalability is a crucial issue for quantum information processing. Many of the optical implementations we perform in the lab would profit strongly if they could find a compact substrate to replace the extensive implementations we use.In this scenario, the use of microcavities fabricated in silicon nitride offer an outstanding possibility. Having a footprint in the mm range, they can achieve high quality factors, using CMOS compatible techniques of fabrication, and due to the third order nonlinearity, can lead to parametric amplification by four wave mixing. In this case, the microcavity can reach the oscillation threshold if the pump power is strong enough. We are investigating the use of these microcavities as sources of entangled states of light, that may eventually lead to the generation of cluster states under multimode oscillation dynamics, characteristic of these devices. The path starts by the investigation of entanglement both above and below the oscillation threshold, once we master the decoherence sources in this system. (AU)
