Abstract

INTRODUCTIONVibrational spectroscopy techniques have been used with great success for the characterization and diagnosis of diseases, as reported by our groups over the past 8 years in samples, in vitro, ex vivo and in vivo (Carvalho et al., 2010, Carvalho et al., 2011, Carvalho et al., 2015; Carvalho et al., 2016; Carvalho et al., 2017). The present scenario shows a real interest for evaluation of biofluids with great diagnostic potential (Baker et al., 2015, Bonnier et al., 2016), since the fluids are easy to obtain and the FT-IR technique does not require preparation of the sample. The first step of the work is to establish the normal spectral pattern of the samples, as well as a better method of collection and preparation. OBJECTIVESTo obtain a spectral pattern of saliva -To standardize the salivary collection method for the spectral pattern in different biofluids. Analysis will be performed after centrifugation (supernatant and precipitate) and performing a filtration of the supernatant to decrease artifacts inherent in the high molecular weight molecules.30 (15 females and 15 males) health subjects without periodontal disease, autoimmune disease and oral cancer, as well other known acute and chronic conditions. To standardize the methodology for saliva, as reference for the studies of chronic conditions that will be evaluated in the present proposal. In addition the present study will incorporate this new methodology in the clinical practice and research setting of the participating Brazilian Universities.
