Abstract

One of the limitations in endodontics, mainly related to materials science, is the the development of materials that promote regeneration and/or repair of pulp/periapical tissues. Thus, new endodontic materials have been presented, and it is necessary to perform tests that show their different properties and allow the selection of the best material for a given clinical situation. The aim of this study is to evaluate the physicalchemical properties of endodontic cement based on calcium silicate in powder/liquid presentation Sealer Plus BC (MK Life, Porto Alegre, RS, Brazil); comparing it with the properties of cements: BioRoot RCS (Septodont Inc., Saint-Maur-des-Fossés, ÎledeFrance, France) and MTApex (Ultradent Products Inc., South Jordan, UT, USA). The properties to be evaluated will be: radiopacity; flow; pH (potential of hydrogen); calcium ion release; solubility; Micro-CT volumetric solubility and setting time. For the radiopacity tests, flow, solubility, and preparation of the specimens for the setting time tests specifications number 57 of ANSI/ADA (2000) and ISO 6876 (2012) will be followed. For measuring the initial and final setting times, the ASTM C266/2008 standard will be used. The pH and the release calcium ions will be evaluated at 3, 24, 72, and 168 hours, and the volumetric solubility will be evaluated by computed Micro-Computed Tomography (Micro-CT). The data obtained will be applied in statistical tests with a significance level of 5%.
