Abstract

The present research project is part of another already existing one, called "Pauliceia 2.0: Collaborative mapping of the history of São Paulo (1870-1940)", financed by the Fapesp eScience Program and the result of a partnership between Unifesp (campi of Guarulhos and São José dos Campos), INPE (National Institute for Space Research), Emory University, in the United States and the computing coordination at ITA (Aeronautics Institute of Technology). This project envisages the continuity in the development and the availability on the Internet of a digital cartographic base of the city of São Paulo, referring to the period of its urban-industrial modernization (1870-1940), associated with an interface that allows the interactivity of interested researchers. While feeding the platform with spatializable events from their own investigations, they will be able to produce maps and visualizations of their respective research - which would allow, in general, another form of representation and, in particular, new possibilities of approaches, presentation and use of data - concomitantly with the enrichment of the base available with the information brought. Therefore, it is intended to create conditions to enhance the research possibilities of the history of São Paulo, doing so in accordance with the most interesting developments of digital humanities and the use of geotechnologies for and by historians; and whose results are linked to the premises of collaborative work, interdisciplinary dialogue and free circulation of knowledge.
