Abstract

The present proposal aims to characterize the Brazil Current Inner Recirculation Cell and investigate it's possible wind-driven forcing. In order to it's morphometry, volume transport and seasonality can be inferred the following datasets will be used: multi satellite altimetry data and assimilative numerical reanalysis data referred to the south portion of BC (25ºS-45ºS). The volume transport calculation will be done by water masses strats present in the region, until depth of 1200 m: Tropical Water (TW), South Atlantic Central Water (SACW) and the Intermediate Antarctic Water (IAW). To understand the cell dynamics the classic Munk, 1950, model will be adapted to the BC conditions, with a realistic contour and forcing by a real data of wind stress.
