Abstract

The synthesis of metallic nanoparticles (NPMs) by biological systems is known as green synthesis or biosynthesis and can be performed using prokaryotic and eukaryotic organisms or parts thereof. In this synthesis strategy, instead of using toxic agents to reduce the metal ion, obtaining NPMs is mediated by biological components capable of reducing the metal. In this context, the present project aims to develop the green synthesis and characterization of silver nanoparticles containing extract from Bauhinia forficata leaves in terms of extract concentration, AgNO3, pH and temperature/time. It also aims to evaluate the antiglycant activity by the methods of relative mobility in electrophoresis (MRE), determination of free amino groups and the fluorescence of AGEs and the antioxidant effect by means of the DPPH radical scavenging and iron ion chelating tests by FRAP of silver nanoparticles containing extracts and compare with the crude extracts of non-nanostructured B. forficata leaves. It is expected to prove that the process of green synthesis to obtain silver nanoparticles containing extract of the leaf of B. forficata, in addition to elucidating its antiglycating and antioxidant activity, with the possibility of applying AgNPs in future formulations as in food supplement, functional food and pharmacologically active product in the prevention and/or damage caused by the diabetic state (protein glycation and oxidative stress), thus allowing the increase of scientific information for the safe use of this species.
