Abstract

This document describes the plan of work. The project is scheduled to be carried out in 24 months. The project will investigate theoretically metamaterials using geometric nonlinearity aiming at achieving attenuation bands at frequencies lower than 100 Hz. This project will also design and perform experimental tests to validate the theoretical predictions made from the developed model, investigate the practical issues in realising nonlinear metamaterials, and determine their limitations in terms of the attenuation of vibration transmission, also their practical applications in the engineering area.
