Abstract

The correlation between photons emitted by individual atoms in an atomic cloud gives us information about the interactions that occur between them and their collective behavior. Recently, thanks to the development of new technologies, this type of analysis became a tool to study collective effects in cold atoms, enabling better understanding of light-matter interaction. In Bose-Einstein condensates (BEC) the analysis of scattered photons can provide information that may not be accessible with conventional techniques, but due to the low signal that is expected to be acquired from a Bose-Einstein condensate this technique might be less attractive. In this project we propose the implementation of the analysis of scattered photons in ultra cold atoms and the feasibility of applying this technique to study out-of-equilibrium effects in Bose-Einstein condensates.
