Abstract

This postdoctoral research project aims to better understand stellar activity from the characterization of features on the surface of the star such as spots and faculae. One way of doing this is from the modeling of signatures in the stellar light curve when a transiting planet eclipses such spots. From this modeling, physical properties of spots such as size, intensity, temperatura and magnetic field, as well as the spot position on the stellar surface can be estimated. Moreover, the rotation and differential rotation of the stars can also be determined.
