Abstract

This postdoctoral project aims to carry out a multiscalar analysis to monitoring, preventing and recovering from epidemics. Based on the investigation into the territorialization of the pandemic and its impacts on the Metropolitan Region of São Paulo, the research in question will have as main result the creation of a methodology for territorial reading, which combines different scales and tools, capable of subsidizing public managers and local agents in dealing with new waves of COVID-19 or new epidemic outbreaks, as well as identifying impacts of the health crisis and thus assisting in the design of recovery policies and actions that dialogue with the affected communities. The research will mobilize two complementary scales, starting with the metropolitan scale, based on analysis and georeferencing of secondary data from multiple sources of information. It is on this scale that we territorialize the inequalities produced and deepened during the pandemic and identify the dynamics of a metropolitan scale with a direct influence on the sapatiotemporal spread of epidemic outbreaks. After this metropolitan reading, the research moves to the neighborhood (local scale), in two territories that will be mapped together with local agents - community health agents, teachers, local leadership, etc. - from the exploration of experimental cartographic methodologies, collective mapping and social cartography.
