Abstract

The installation and stabilization of the dental implant, in clinical cases of maxillary sinus pneumatization and reduction of vertical bone height, can be achieved through surgery to lift the maxillary sinus membrane and insert autogenous bone or bone substitutes to recover the lost volume. Therefore, the aim of this study is to analyze and compare the behavior of bone neoformation and resorption of Endobon® and Cerabone® bone substitutes in human maxillary sinuses through histomorphometric analyses. Thus, the data analyzed will be composed of 20 human maxillary sinuses, subdivided into two groups: group 1 composed of 10 maxillary sinuses grafted with Endobon® and group 2 composed of 10 maxillary sinuses grafted with Cerabone®. Therefore, the research will consist of two clinical steps, the first being surgery to lift the sinus membrane and insert the biomaterial of choice. And after 6 months, the second clinical stage, which consists of performing a biopsy of the grafted material and insertion of the dental implant. And so, based on the collected and processed samples, the data will be analyzed, tabulated and the dynamics of bone repair and neoformation will be verified through the gain of bone tissue, an important factor for the success of the stabilization of the dental implant.
