Abstract

This study evaluates the comparison of the PD1 and PD-L1 protein signaling pathway in Actinic Cheilits (AQ), a lesion that can progress to Squamous Cell Carcinoma (SCLC). Material and methods: 30 cases of lower lip biopsies with diagnosis of AK and 30 of CCEL will be selected, obtained from the Oral Pathology Laboratory of the Institute of Science and Technology of São José dos Campos/UNESP. The specimens will have histological sections of 3µm, will be deparaffinized, hydrated and will undergo antigenic recovery, and after this process the slides will be incubated using the primary antibodies anti-PD1 (monoclonal, Abcam 237728) and anti-PDL1 (monoclonal, Abcam 237726). Histopathological and immunohistochemical analysis of the samples will be performed for the markers PD 1 and PD-LI. For this, a positive labeling index will be obtained, which will initially be performed photomicrographs in a 40x objective lens (Olympus, Tokyo, Japan) and then counting all epithelial cells or until a maximum number of 300 cells is obtained. In cases of AK, they will be divided into basal layer and suprabasal layer. In this way, the labeling index will be made by dividing the number of positive epithelial cells by the total number of epithelial cells, multiplying, at the end, by 100. The values of the comparisons will be statistically analyzed by appropriate statistical tests.
