Abstract Recent studies indicate a sea level rise up to around 1m until the end of the century and anexpressive 4°C global warming. Extremely sensitive to environment changes of temperature, salinity and substrate, mangroves must face changes in their space distribution, changing theentire dynamic. Based on the hypothesis that these changes may be causing the migration ofthe mangrove to temperate latitudes and/or higher topographically lands, this project intends toreconstitute the environmental and vegetation dynamics for the last millennium, obtainingpollen data, isotopic (13C and 15N) and elemental (C/N) characteristics as well as radiocarbondates and sedimentation rates based on 210Pb of sediment cores sampled from Marapanim - PAmangroves to test this hypothesis. Satellites and drone images will be used to generate asequence of mangroves changes in the last decades. Digital elevation models will be generatedfrom drone high-resolution images to identify potential favorable areas to mangrove migrationgiven the estimated projections. These results will be used as reference to compare themangrove dynamic between American mangroves located in the southern (Laguna, SantaCatarina - Brasil) and northern (Port Fourchon, Luisiana and Apalachicola, Flórida - EUA)limits. Keywords: Mangrove; Amazon rainforest; Paleoenvironmental reconstruction; Climatechanges; Drone | |
