Abstract

The cardiorenal syndrome type 3 (CRS3) consists of a complex and pathological condition involving the kidney and heart, characterized by an acute cardiac injury and failure caused by acute kidney injury (AKI), mainly due to the ischemic AKI. Several mechanisms were reported to participate in the CRS3 pathophysiology, such as the well-known neurohormones hyperactivation, oxidative stress and hemodynamic abnormalities. Considering the role of extracellular vesicles in different pathologies, they have been highlighted and proposed to contribute to CRS3 development in the last few years. Besides, the omics has gained much attention due to providing specific markers using transcriptomics, metabolomics, and proteomics analyzes, including the study of renal and cardiac diseases. So, the objective of this project is to evaluate the proteomic profile of extracellular vesicles in the context of ischemic kidney injury. The left kidney pedicle of C57Bl/6 male mice will be clamped for 60 minutes and reperfused for 72 hours and 8 days. EVs will be isolated from serum, characterized, and submitted to proteomic analysis by LC-MS/MS (liquid chromatography followed by mass spectrometry in tandem). (AU)
