Abstract

In this project we propose the investigation of optical effects of different 2D materials coupled to optical cavities. By transferring graphene and semiconductor two-dimensional materials onto pre-fabricated optical cavities we aim to characterize and explore the interaction between coupled optical modes and the two-dimensional materials either in low and/or high frequency regime. We aim to explore linear (absorption, reflection and photoluminescence) and nonlinear (harmonic generation) optical phenomena in two-dimensional materials transferred onto planar optical cavities, such as photonic crystal cavities, to correlate optical and mechanical properties of these optomechanical devices.
