Abstract

Mobility played a fundamental role in Brazilian urbanization, not only with regard to the emergence of new urban centers from mobility networks, but also in the expansion of urban perimeters, especially from the 1960s onwards, with an intense rural exodus and the formation of a new territorial configuration, which became predominantly urban. In the current period, the circulation of information, individuals and goods has become increasingly dynamic with the emergence of new technologies, and mobility remains an essential element in the daily lives of city dwellers. The hiring of companies for public intra-urban public transport is an initiative of the city halls to make it possible for city dwellers to travel; however, the routes and equipment of the concessionary companies do not always guarantee ease and efficiency in displacements. Thus, this subproject intends to investigate whether, and to what extent, the Uber and 99 Pop apps have been taking the place of public transport between trips carried out in the city of Presidente Prudente/SP. Therefore, the methodology involves determining, from the displacements, the areas of the city that most use each of the applications, as well as verifying the maintenance and changes in the logic of displacements between the center and the peripheries.
