Abstract

The complete information of a system can be given by its density operator. By performing a controlled evolution of the state, the lossless state transformation preserves the purity of this state. The preservation of the information, associated with the control over the purity, is a fundamental resource for the use of quantum mechanics as a resource for information processing, which may lead to a new paradigm of computation. In the systems, if interested in quantum computing, controlled interaction between system and environment and system scalability are basic demands. For the process described by continuous spectra of eigenstates (in the domain of continuous variables - CV), the integration of elements for light manipulation in optical chips comes as a resource that satisfies these demands. Our project brings the student to the challenges of the manipulation of quantum information in continuous variables, including the development of silicon and silicon nitride chips. This undergoing project in our lab aims at the generation of entangled states of light using on-chip optical parametric oscillators. The state can be eventually manipulated by integrated cavities and interferometers, looking for the development of resources for the implementation of quantum computing with continuous variables.
