Abstract

Marathon is a very common endurance sport nowadays, with its popularization the search for advisors and professionals who could help in greater performance in competitions has increased. Intense exercise can generate a pro-inflammatory state due to the breakdown of the body's homeostasis, caused by muscle tissue injury, as well as the release of inflammatory markers such as IL-6, IL-8, IL10, and the muscle produces and secretes mediators of inflammation such as myokines, which are responsible for tissue repair and regeneration. There are 650 types of myokines, but the biological role of 5% of them is known, among them, the most studied in aerobic exercise are, myostatin, irisin, IL-6, musclin, BNDF, GDF-15, decorin, apelin, IL-15 , myonectin, SPARC, and follistatin. The ACE I/D polymorphism may be related to greater or lesser efficiency of energy metabolism in marathon runners, and muscle inflammation. The study will be conducted with samples of 120 male participants aged between 25 and 54 years, without pre-existing cardiovascular or metabolic disease, with at least one year of running training who completed the 2017, 2018 São Paulo International Marathon, and 2019. the determination of inflammatory mediators will be performed using the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay technique, and for myokines, the multiplex technique will be used, and the ACE polymorphism genotyping will be analyzed using the real-time PCR method.(AU)
