Abstract

The use of concrete waste as recycled concrete aggregate of a new concrete is a way to reduce both, the exploitation of natural resources and the waste landfill. In Europe the recycled construction materials have been given attention since the Second World War. Recently, this is the focus of researchers around the world. Nevertheless, utilizing recycled aggregates at a partial or full replacement levels cause effects on properties of both, fresh and hardened concrete. Researchers have widely investigated the impacts of replacing natural coarse aggregates by recycled concrete aggregates on concrete properties. As a result, there are a significant number of publications about recycled concretes. Unfortunately, up until now adequate relationships have not been established between compressive stress and axial strains to recycled concretes. This study aims to represent the behavior of recycled concrete cylindric specimens subjected to uniaxial compression using finite element analysis.
