Abstract

In order to contribute to the broader objective of investigating how inequalities and hierarchies based on gender and sexuality characterize sexual initiation and the dynamics of social and sexual interactions, with an impact on the prevention of SARS-CoV-2, the post-doctoral fellow will focus on the analysis of the ways in which young public high school students in socially vulnerable districts of the city of São Paulo face violence and discrimination associated with gender and sexual orientation in their experiences with sexuality. Of special interest will be to understand the dynamics of flexibilization, persistence and readjustment of sexual norms associated with gender and sexual orientation, in the broader framework of dispute and repositioning of expectations in relation to femininities and masculinities, in which intervene both interpellations to heteronormativity posed by the formation of collectives of students and the exacerbation of inequalities of sexuality and gender, evidenced in episodes of domestic violence against girls and LGBT people in the pandemic context. The research will consider two temporalities foreseen in the project (periods of physical distancing and sustained reopening) in their implications on juvenile sociability, affective-sexual interaction and experiences of violence and discrimination. In addition to actively participating in the coordination of the interview process, together with the principal investigator, the post doctoral fellow is also expected to contribute to the analysis of the acceptability of prevention interventions against sexism, LGBTphobia and religious discrimination and to the production of information on initiatives and public policies focused on the dimensions of youth sexual health and reproductive health.
