Abstract

Substance Use Disorder (SUD) is a major public health problem in Brazil and worldwide. The biggest challenges faced by patients suffering from this disease are recurrent episodes of relapse, and consequent abandonment of treatment. In view of this, studies are being carried out on adjuvant techniques that help in the underlying processes of the cycle of this disorder. Thus, the main objective of the present project is to evaluate the environmental, social and psychological factors associated with the promising response of the Mindfulness-Based Relapse Prevention Protocol (MBRP) as an adjuvant in adherence and permanence to hospitalizations in therapeutic communities, in order to achieve a better treatment. More lasting and effective. The study design will be a controlled and randomized clinical trial, with an estimated sample of 160 people, among men, over 18 years old, who undergo treatment for STU in Therapeutic Communities in the State of São Paulo. Differences will be verified between the groups in relation to the outcomes using assisted self-completion scales with quantitative measures evaluated in the times: before the intervention and immediately after the intervention. The instruments used will be the most requested and validated to verify the objectives of the study. Data analyzes involve analysis of variance with repeated measures to compare the control and intervention groups on primary and secondary outcomes over time, logistic regression models to assess the relationship of prediction and change between independent variables (such as level of mindfulness) on specific outcomes (such as impulsivity, anger management, anxiety, and craving).
