Abstract

This research proposal tries to understand the role of mixed music with live electronics in the dialogue between the realms of instrumental and electronic music. The evolution of this repertoire is full of different and unique musical approaches to think the relationship between musical material and electronic means that are used to extend its possibilities. Furthermore, research institutions, studios, computer music softwares, and technologies available at a given time plays an importante role to understand the possibilities in which each composer makes their musical decisions when creating new works. Through the research of the musical thinking behind the most important figures in the repertoire and their respective works and writings, combined with their historical context and the technology available at different points in time, this proposal intends to understand the dynamic between the writing of instrumental and electronic music through the mixed music live electronics repertoire.
