Impacts of quarantine and / or social isolation on the routine of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and their families during the Covid-19.

Abstract

During the COVID-19 pandemic, families around the world faced major impacts in relation to social life and new hygienic, family, therapeutic and professional habits, in addition to others that are present in their routines. Specifically, families responsible for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), individuals who need extra support for their development and interaction. The objective of this research will be to analyze the impacts of quarantine and/or social isolation on the routine of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and the difficulties of these families during the COVID-19 pandemic. Thirty children (families) of both genders will participate in this study, ranging from 2 to 9 years and 11 months of age, who received the interdisciplinary diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder, according to the DSM-5 criteria. For data collection, the Identification Protocol of the Patient Attended at LEALI (PIPALI) will be used in order to include general identification, diagnostic hypothesis, complaint, therapeutic approach. The DASS 21 Questionnaire - Depression, Anxiety and Stress and COVID-19 will be applied, in order to compare the quality of mental health of those responsible for people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and those responsible for children without ASD and the Questionnaire of tracking for Research on the Impacts of Quarantine and/or Social Isolation on the routine of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and their families during the Covid-19 pandemic: Questionnaire that addresses questions about parents or guardians of children, with the objective of to collect important information about behavior and specific Language issues. The data obtained will be analyzed by means of statistical analysis.
