Effects of the Promove-Pais Program applied online and face-to-face to groups of parents and mothers of children with behavior problems

Abstract

Child behaviors (behavioral problems and social skills) are correlated with parental educational practices (positive and negative), as well as other intra-family variables such as mental health and the quality of the marital relationship. The literature recommends the application of intervention programs to mitigate or prevent negative impacts on the overall health of children and their families. In Brazil, there are well-structured parental training programs, one of which is Promove-Pais, but data on their effects, obtained from experimental research, both for face-to-face and online intervention are still lacking. Therefore, this research project aims to describe and compare the effects of the Promove-Pais program applied to fathers and mothers of children with behavior problems, in the modality of face-to-face and online training. The participation of 36 biological fathers and/or mothers of children aged between six and seven years who present indicators of behavioral problems is expected. Participants will be randomly distributed into six experimental groups, three will receive the intervention in online mode and three in face-to-face mode, using the experimental design of a single case study with multiple probes. The interventions will be carried out with the Promove-Pais program over 14 weeks. The instrument data will be corrected according to the standardized manuals and will be statistically compared in probe measurements, pre-test, intermediate measurement, post-test and follow-up, between the experimental groups (Mann-Whitney Test) and in-person and online intragroups (Wilcoxon test) using SPSS software.
