Abstract

Malaria is a disease that threatens public health on a global scale, and in this context, the Amazon region is strongly affected. Several articles describe the resistance of Anopheles mosquitoes to insecticides and drugs used for this disease, generating a global concern. In this scenery, the development of a vaccine against Plasmodium vivax has been considered an efficient alternative. However, despite of estimatives, there are challenges during the development of vaccines, such as high costs and this protozoan s complex cycle of life, comprising pre-erythrocytic and erythrocytic stages. Therefore, a protein composed by the association between Circumsporozoite Protein and Merozoite Surface Protein 1 (19 kDa C-terminal region) was used to immunize mice C57BL/6, aiming the production of antibodies in these animals to prevent cell invasions on the two stages of the protozoan's life cycle. Furthemore, this project's objective is to evaluate the different proportion of subclasses of Immunoglobulin (IgG) obtained through these immunizations.
