Abstract

Recent studies have addressed the interactions that occur between the virus and the main host cells in humans (TCD4+ lymphocytes and monocytes), more precisely the interaction between host protein kinases and HIV proteins, during the life cycle of the virus in cells. After the infection is established, the virus promotes a series of changes in the infected cell: the elevation of the levels of reactive oxygen species, the chronic activation of the immune system, the persistent inflammation and the dysfunction of the immune system to recognize the cells that harbor the latent viruses. and the elimination of the cells that actively produce them, are the biggest challenges for finding a cure. Thus, the objective of this project will be to identify a possible activation of the mTOR cell signaling pathway as a result of the increase in reactive oxygen species involved in the persistence of viral reservoirs, with consequent manipulation of the cellular environment using interventions aimed at sterilizing cure by HIV-1. .
