Consumer demand for healthier products that generate less impact on natural resources has boosted the development of innovative ingredients and processes. Therefore, green technologies and solvents can be chosen to extract phenolic compounds from industrial waste, allowing the production of a high added value product and reducing waste disposal. The coupling of technologies and reusable solvents also can be a good strategy for developing more efficient processes. They can allow the extraction of compounds with greater purity in a lower time, using less energy, generating less impact on the environment. Thus, this project aims to study the coupling of high-intensity ultrasound and gas expanded liquids technologies, as well as the reusable Deep Natural Eutectics Solvents (NADES) and Ionic Liquids (ILs) to the bidimensional system of extraction, separation, and analysis proposed by the project in development Jovem Pesquisador - Fase 2 (18/14582-5). For this, will be used coffee and almond husks as sources of phenolic compounds. Different configurations of technologies, solvents, and operational parameters will also be studied to obtain the phenolic compounds. Moreover, is proposed carried out part of this project at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid under the supervision of Professor Elena Ibáñez, who has experience in using NADES to obtain bioactive compounds. Thus, it is intended to demonstrate the techno-economic potential that the bidimensional system can achieve using industrial waste to produce purer compounds, coupled technologies that can reduce energy expenditure, and more efficient and reusable solvents.
