This project aims to provide estimates of aerosols and GHG over Amazonia using state-of-the-art measurements from sensors onboard orbiting satellites. Such data, however,have not yet been verified against observations from monitoring stations at the earth´ssurface and therefore the differences between the remote sensing and ground samplingtechniques are unknown. We will compare the remote sensing and surface measurementdata since 2002 to determine their correlation and adjust the satellite data to betterrepresent surface data for the Amazon basin. MODIS (from TERRA and AQUA) andTROPOMI (from Sentinel-5) will be the main source for aerosol and GHG measurements,and their data basis will be prepared for use at the national, state, and county levels, in temporalperiods selected by the users. Surface data for validation will be used all over Amazonia,in particular at the ATTO tower, Acre, Rondônia, and other sites. Aerosol optical depth willbe validated with the NASA AERONET network.
