Political representation in the unilateral forms of freedom in Hegel's philosophy of right

Abstract

The aim of the research is to investigate the criticism that Hegel makes in his work Philosophy of Right to the two unilateral models of freedom. One based on the demands of authenticity and the other based on the demands of autonomy of the subjects in modernity, showing how when absolutized by participants in social life as guides to political action, they can only lead to social crises arising from a strong contradiction between freedom and institutions. Therefore, we seek to understand how these models, which could be called "pathological", are mistakenly connected to a fundamental political concept: political representation. This is because, as we intend to demonstrate, such forms of freedom do not only affect the level of individual self-correlation, but acquire concreteness in specific practical and institutional organizations. Thus, the research seeks to expand the investigation of the modes of recognition in Hegelian philosophy beyond the field of intersubjectivity, including, above all, the types of demands directed at institutions according to each representation of freedom that one has.
