Abstract

This research project aims to quantify the epidemiological progress and damage caused by raspberry and grapevine rust under field conditions with mild and high temperatures. Field experiments will be carried out in the municipalities of São Bento do Sapucaí-SP (Cwb climate), where summer temperatures are mild, and in Piracicaba-SP (Cwa climate), where summer temperatures are high. The experiments will have plots with both plant species, with and without plastic cover. At the beginning of each season, the covered plots will receive plastic, with a density of 150 µm. In all experimental plots, the two external rows will be considered borders, and the assessments will be performed at 4 central rows. The evaluations will be carried out in 10 plants (one branch/plant) selected at random in each plot. The incidence and severity of rust and the number of leaves of each sampled branch will be evaluated weekly. Meteorological stations will be installed in each experimental field. Two spore traps will be installed in plots with and without plastic cover to monitor the inoculum. The photosynthetic efficiency of plants with different disease severity levels will be evaluated monthly with an infrared gas analyzer (IRGA). The experiment will be conducted for 4 years.
