Abstract

The pandemic of the new coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) has changed people's lives, especially with regard to health professionals working to combat this virus. In Brazil, the controversies regarding sanitary management, the lack of equipment maintenance, and adequate inspection in relation to safety sanitary protocols have caused the country to reach an exorbitant number of fatal victims, in addition to extending the pandemic period compared to other countries; facts that had repercussions on the physical and mental health of health professionals. The present project intends to investigate the prevalence of Post-traumatic Stress Disorder in nurses working in the city of São Paulo, since this was the city with the highest number of victims and this professional category has been playing an extremely important role. For this, we intend to use a mixed methodology with the use of the Event Scale-Revised (IES-R) and analysis of qualitative data, in order to understand what is the prevalence of symptoms related to PTSD in this population and how the reality of working in a risky environment during a pandemic presents itself to these nurses.(AU)
