Abstract

Vital signs and blood glucose levels are indispensable indicators in assessing the patient's general health status. Thus, the dentist plays a fundamental role in monitoring and recording them, bearing in mind common situations of stress and anxiety in the dental office. This prospective, longitudinal, double-blind cohort clinical study aims to monitor and record the patient's vital signs and blood glucose levels before, during, and after dental treatment. Due to the physiological and psychosomatic changes likely to occur in the office, these parameters are also expected to be altered. Therefore, 40 patients of both genders will be selected and the inclusion criteria will be: Patients between 18 and 37 years of age, patients with an indication for extraction of teeth 38 and 48 with at least 2/3 of the roots formed, according to the exam radiographic, class I, II, III; position B and C (Pell & Gregory 1942), and exclusion criteria: the presence of any oral manifestations in the area of interest that may contraindicate the surgical procedure, such as pericoronitis, cysts, and odontogenic tumors associated or not with third molars, a trauma in the region or any symptoms indicating the presence of infection, presence of any systemic disease. Patients will be evaluated through the continuous flow within the clinical disciplines of the undergraduate course in Dentistry and postgraduate studies in Dentistry and Dental Sciences at the São Paulo State University "Júlio de Mesquita Filho" - Araçatuba Dental School (UNESP). operated by at least the operator, standardizing the use of 2% mepivacaine + 1:1000 epinephrine on the right side and 3% prilocaine + 0.03UL/ML felypressin, with 15-day intervals between surgeries. After filling out a patient anamnesis form that was developed based on the objectives of this study, the following measurements will be made: temperature (T), blood pressure (BP), respiratory rate (RR), heart rate (RR), oxygen saturation (SaO2) and blood glucose levels. They will be carried out before the beginning of the procedure (t1) evaluation at rest before the procedure, (t2) Evaluation after anesthetic blockade, (t3) Immediate post-surgical evaluation, (t4) Late post-surgical, in the removal of stitches after 7 days. In addition to the measurements, other parameters will also be evaluated and recorded, namely: 1 - Medical history of the patient (without comorbidities); 4- Type of environment (noise and light levels and a number of individuals in the place); 5- Patient's age range (pre-set age). Thus, the data obtained will be used to analyze the behavior of vital signs and blood glucose during dental appointments, which will be properly tabulated and submitted to statistical analysis, considering a significance level of 5%.(AU)
