Abstract Wormholes are solutions to the Einstein equations which connect different regions of the same space-time or different universes. In General Relativity they need exotic matter -which violates the energy conditions- to exist and be traversable. However, recent studies show that it is possible to build solutions in alternative theories of gravitation that alleviate such problems. Because of this reason, these objects have received a renewed interest in present research works. In this research plan, we aim to study a basic model of a wormhole which will let us analyze the main features of these exotic objects as well as their surrounding space-time. Specifically, we propose to study a wormhole constructed from a BTZ metric in (2+1) dimensions and the light-like and timelike geodesics corresponding to this geometry.(AU) | |
