Teaching work, pandemic and union practice: an approach on women in municipal Education in Presidente Prudente/SP

Abstract

Women, historically linked to unpaid domestic work, have their insertion in the labor market in a more expensive way, with an overload of their total work hours. Among the issues of the working woman, this work will give focus on the female teacher. Associated with an extension of the domestic environment, the striking presence of women working in the school environment was naturalized. In addition to the permanent salary issues, currently, the teachers have suffered from the implementation of emergency remote education during the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, we intend to raise the main impacts of a remote teaching in the daily life of teachers of municipal public education in the region of Presidente Prudente/SP, in order to ascertain whether, associated with the issues already existing in the teaching profession, there was a greater overload of teachers during the pandemic times. Thus, we will seek to build an overview of studies on women and the world of work, understand the reality of municipal public education teachers and follow the trajectory of SINTRAPP (acronym in Portuguese for Union of Municipal Employees of Presidente Prudente and Region) and their experiences of coping with problems arising from remote education.
