Abstract

The present project is proposed to be completed in 4 months at the Universidade daCoruña (UDC), focusing in the experimental study of gas-liquid phase-change phenomena.It will be in contact with experienced researchers in this area to improve andcomplement the numerical simulations that will be performed in the group at EESC-USP,not to mention the contribution for the research groups at UDC and EESC.The main aims are to collect experimental data with the apparatus available in UDC,in order to study the pool boiling process of HFE7100 refrigerant and the impact of thesurface treatment on this process. As many recent works show, the surface treatment andthe methods used to do it have great influence in the heat transferred in the pool boilingprocess, being of a great importance to study these phenomena.In the proposed stay it is intended to determine the pool boiling curves and thefrequencies related to the multiphase pool boiling structures, as well as to perform acharacterization of single bubbles features. All these works will be done with the helpof the SISTER laboratory, as the structure given by the UDC university. Furthermore,with the experimental data obtained during the BEPE, it will be possible to compare thenumerical results given by the Lattice Boltzmann method, analyzing how the method canbe improved to provide better and correct results.
