Abstract

In this project will be analyzed transmission line models used to simulate electromagnetic transients in power systems. Two models will be analyzed. The first one corresponds to the solution of wave equations on transmission lines in the frequency domain and another one is a lumped parameters model developed directly in the time domain. These line models will be used that the student can understand the behavior of a transmission line subjected to electromagnetic transients. The models also will be used to represent the transmission line of a simplified electric power system constituted by a generator connected to load by a single-phase line. This system will be subjected to sudden changes due to energization procedures so that it is possible to verify its behavior during the occurrence of electromagnetic transients. The development of the project will help the undergraduate student to obtain a solid education regarding electromagnetic transients, making him able to continue the work started in this project, whether in a postgraduate course or in companies in the electricity sector.(AU)
