Abstract

The present proposal is part of the doctoral project (Fapesp Process: 2020/05300-6) and aims to understand the discussions held by the Agroecology Research Group of El Colegio de la Frontera Sur de México (ECOSUR), an international reference in studies on territorialization of agroecology and the conception of Latin American agroecological thought. Specifically, this project will seek to identify the perception that the ECOSUR group of researchers have about the challenges to the territorialization of agroecology, evaluating whether the Participatory Guarantee System can contribute to overcoming the challenges encountered. The Research Internship Abroad grant will be held for a period of eight months under the responsibility of Professor PhD. Helda Morales, member of the aforementioned research group. The thesis data collected during the first fieldwork carried out in Brazil will be analyzed together with the ECOSUR group. In addition, the doctoral student will follow the research in progress carried out by the group. This partnership will contribute to the in-depth analysis of the thesis' main objective: to investigate whether GSP contributes to the advance of agroecology in rural settlements, both in quantitative and qualitative terms. The coexistence and articulation of the research developed in the thesis with the studies of ECOSUR's research group will provide the opportunity for a greater coverage of the research results, a better understanding of the variables found, as well as greater capacity-building for the doctoral student in the process of data analysis and discussion.
