Abstract

A feminicide corresponds to a homicide of a woman motivated specifically by gender matters and it is usually committed at home, by men with whom the victim had personal relationship. For this reason, the quarantine adopted as a strategy to stop the advance of Covid-19 Pandemic - caused by SARS-CoV-2 virus since 2019 December and declared by World Health Organization in 2020 March - intensified the vulnerability of many women to domestic violence and feminicide, which may be the consequence of this kind of violence. This phenomenon was observed all over the world, including in Brazil, and it occurred due to the reduction of the victims' access to help services and to people from outside their houses, besides the increase of aggressors' emotional instability in face of a social and economic crisis. Therefore, the present study intends to verify if there was an abnormal number of feminicides in the city of Campinas from 2020 March to 2021 September, in comparison to the pre-pandemic period. For that, it will be necessary to collect data from the Campinas Municipal Health Department referring to the feminine homicide from 2010 January to 2021 September, which will be used to estimate de number of feminicides, based on a percentage found by fieldwork conducted by the Laboratory of Spatial Analisis of Epidemiological Data (epiGeo), from the Campinas State University (Unicamp). After that, a control diagram will be elaborated to compare the monthly incidences of the pandemic period to the average monthly incidences of the previous years, checking if there was or there was not an epidemic of feminicides during de Covid-19 pandemic. This way, the research will foment the discussion about the occurrence of gender violence inside the domestic environment, as well as it will evidence the importance of actions to prevent these crimes and to protect the victims, which are essential inside the pandemic context and beyond it.
