Abstract

This project is based on the use of classical control techniques applied to a new dc/dc converter (proposed by the USP/EESC team) named quasi-double-boost. Initially, the modeling in the time domain was performed to obtain the voltage gain and the efficiency as well as, a complete analysis of state variables (voltages on capacitors and current through inductors) was accomplished to verify the effect of changing the converter losses and the load demand on the aforementioned parameters. In this context, different control structures will be designed for controlling two states in a cascade control structure (the currents through the inductors and the voltage on the output capacitor) or in a single-loop when a unique state is regulated. Additionally, some concepts regarding the stability of dc/dc converters will be evaluated to determine the converter limits of operation. Finally, an experimental testbed will be built to prove the effectiveness of the proposed approach. (AU)
