Abstract

The need to guarantee food quality, meeting the demands of markets and consumers concerned with the origin of the food they consume, was intensified with the Covid-19 pandemic. In this sense, the incorporation of traceability systems capable of responding to the demands of global supply chains has become essential. The digital technologies emerging from Industry 4.0, in particular Blockchain combined with the Internet of Things (IoT), can facilitate the implementation of commercial regulations, providing more automatic checks of standards compliance promoting a more transparent and efficient environment. The general objective of the research is to analyze the impacts of the implementation of a traceability system in the fish supply chain in Brazil and the world, considering the current degree of maturity and the potential social, environmental, and economic impacts resulting from the adoption of new information technologies of digital transformation. The proposed methodology includes a literature review, supported by the PRISMA approach, the realization of a case study in the studied chain, and the modeling and simulation of scenarios, using the ABMS approach. Therefore, the postdoctoral internship at the Université de Sherbrooke, Canada, aims to (i) participate in the development of the platform, (ii) configure the Brazilian scenarios in it, (iii) analyze them through simulation, and (iv) compare them with Canadian scenarios. As a result, it is expected to contribute to the socio-economic and environmental development of the studied production chain as a whole, in addition to opening perspectives for future research, using the knowledge acquired to simulate the implementation of traceability systems in other Brazilian production chains, strengthening the Program Graduate Program in Agribusiness and Development, based on research carried out and international partnerships signed.
