The purpose of this project is the study of quantum thermodynamics in order to better understand the fundamental laws of thermodynamics and their limitations that appear when quantum effects are considered. We will cover topics of fundamental and technological relevance for the processing and detection of quantum information in real conditions, developing experiments using the Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) technique. We propose to study the influence of Markovianity on thermodynamic quantum systems. The importance of this study comes from the fact that the information sent from the system for the thermal reservoir cannot be returned to the system, if this occurs we can obtain misleading information such as increasing/decreasing the energy of the system and, consequently, measuring higher/lower efficiency of quantum thermals engines. With this study we hope to find a relationship between parameters that characterize the Markovianity of a nuclear spin system. Another point that will be studied in this project is how to use the work obtained by the thermal engine, that is, we will create NMR experiments where we will couple an auxiliary qubit to the qubit system (engine) making the qubit system perform work on the qubit auxiliary. Still in this work project, we will use the protocol for the development of a quantum thermometer that does not need thermalization to measure temperatures of genuine thermal reservoirs. (AU)
