Abstract

Cancer is a disease responsible for about 12% of all human deaths worldwide each year. A combination of two known drugs, Cisplatin, and fluorouracil, has been used to treat this disease. However, the glutathione/glutathione s-transferases (GSH/GSTs) enzyme system has been reported to cause cancer-resistant tumor cells. Here, we propose to use [Ru(Cl)3(NO)(TD)] (TD = 1,3,4- Thiadiazol-2-amine, N,N-dimethyl-5-(2-phenyletenyl)) containing the ligands of thiadiazole and nitrosonium as an antineoplastic agent. Thus, we propose to carry out the synthesis and characterization of the new complex of the type [Ru(Cl)3(NO)(TD)] (TD = 1,3,4- Thiadiazol-2-amine, N,N-dimethyl-5-(2 -phenylethenyl))). The cytotoxicity effects of the new compound will be tested in assays using the human tumor cell lines CHL-1 (ATCC-CRL-9446, (melanoma) and normal cells (ATCC - PCS201-012) at the Instituto de Química de Araraquara.
