Abstract

Mammary gland tumors are the most prevalent tumors in female dogs, representing 50 to 70% of all types of tumors in the species, and 50% are estimated to be malignant. The etiology of this disease is not completely clear, but it is known that several factors contribute to its development, genetics being one of them. The interest in the study of genetic factors related to tumors has increased over last 10 years, and we now know that not only genetic alterations influence their development, but also epigenetic changes, such as those mediated by non-coding RNAs. The proposed work aims to identify differentially expressed long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) in simple carcinoma canine mammary tumors, identify their possible cis and trans targets, and perform pathway enrichment for these targets. Subsequently, we will search for sponge lncRNAs of possible miRNAs that may be related to the disease, and finally, we will carry out the experimental validation of the lncRNAs of interest by real-time PCR.(AU)
