Abstract

Leprosy is an infectious disease of chronic evolution, and its agent is etiological, Mycobacterium leprae, which has an affinity for cells of the nervous system peripheral and can cause primary deformities by compromising sensory, motor fiber sand autonomous, causing decreased or absent sensitivity, paralysis, and amyotrophy. Secondary to this nerve damage, calluses, fissures, and ulcers can occur. the ulcers are an important complication of neuropathy in patients. leprosy. These injuries must be addressed and properly prevented, as they constitute a gateway to infections that can worsen and lead the patient to complications serious injuries, and even amputation. There are several effective treatments for the treatment of skin ulcers, however extreme difficulty of acquisition due to the high cost. Amidst alternative therapies, natural products have been widely used for their therapeutic properties, availability, and low cost. Among these products, proposes are widely accepted due to their properties of therapeutics. Thus, this work aims to investigate the healing effect of an ointment containing green proposes in ulcers on the lower limbs of patients with sequelae of leprosy. For this purpose, it will be performed clinically, blinded, controlled, and randomized, in the dependencies of the Philanthropic Association's wound care/dressing clinic Humanitas located in São Jerônimo da Serra in the state of Paraná. The study will have 40research participants and will last for 60 days, being the research participants accompanied by weekly assessments at the study site, totaling 9 (nine) assessments. To analyze the evolution of the condition, the morphological analysis of the lesion will be performed using the technique decal, by photography, as well as by caliper measurement. In order to investigate the role of proposes in the inflammatory process related to ulcer healing, cytokines pro and anti-inflammatory will be measured in the exudate supernatant. It should be noted that no there are clinical data about the healing potential of green proposes in resulting ulcers leprosy, which makes this study unprecedented. (AU)
