Abstract

Considering that geographic space is a fundamental concept for the understanding of the object of study of geography, the relationship between society and nature, it is necessary to approach the spatial cutout of the Timburi Environmental Protection Area (APA) from the social and environmental perspective. Therefore, the main objective of this project is to develop a database on the environmental and social aspects of the Environmental Protection Area of Sustainable Use in Timburi (APA), Presidente Prudente-SP, as a subsidy for the analysis of society's relations with the environment in the geographical space. This approach aims to understand how the relations between residents and landowners of the APA with the environment are given, analyzing what has changed and/or what should change in their practices to achieve the objectives of the Complementary Law No. 235/2019 of Presidente Prudente, which decrees the creation of the APA of Timburi. These data will be obtained through questionnaires applied to the residents and landowners of the APA, in field works, and compiled in a database organized in Microsoft Excel spreadsheets. Finally, the results of the analysis will be presented in cartographic bases elaborated in GIS software and made available to the community, the City Hall and the APA's Management Council in order to subsidize public policies, research projects and the Management Plan.
