Abstract

The new human coronavirus causes COVID-19 disease, which is an emerging respiratory disease with high infectious potential, and anyone can present a severe condition, especially the elderly. In view of this, some measures needed to be adopted for the control of contamination to be effective, which abruptly altered the routine of a large part of the Brazilian population. Considering the higher prevalence of chronic non-communicable diseases in the elderly population, the high concern of this public at risk with the current scenario is justified, so that the context of the pandemic has a significant impact on mental health, directly affecting the quality of life of the elderly. . Objective: to assess, after a year of the COVID-19 pandemic, the quality of life of the elderly who use social networks WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram. Method: this is quantitative research with the application of two online questionnaires to the elderly, through the dissemination of a Google Forms link in a public call on the social networks WhatsApp, Facebook, and Instagram. The first questionnaire will address socioeconomic issues and then will be on the quality of life. The second questionnaire is based on the WHOQOL-BREF (World Health Organization Quality of Life) method, which is the short form of the original WHOQOL 100 method and has its application performed through 26 questions. The target audience will be individuals over 60 years old. Descriptive analysis will be used for sociodemographic and economic characterization, in addition to days of hospitalization, presence of the caregiver, and comorbidities. Descriptive and simple bivariate analyzes of the collected data will be performed.(AU)
