This project at showing how ultracold atomic clouds may turn coherent light into a chaotic one, even in absence of motion and of interactions: The resonance fluorescence, which reflects the broadening of the emission when the atoms are saturated, leads to a 'randomization' of the phase of the emitted wave. As a witness of the chaotization of the emitted wave, the Siegert relation, which relates field-field and intensity-intensity correlations, will be monitored. In the last phase of the project, the student will study the role of the interactions. (AU)
